Ginger has her own letterhead now! She is an adorable soft sculptured cat doll. Her letterhead features beautiful handwriting and a beauty shot of Ginger.

I'm On Assignment!

Hello my Babushkas! Ginger, feline reporter here.  I have to look official and do a good job...so no giggling fits.

During our first ever annual Catberry Tails Retreat I took a class on blog posting. TA DA!! And I designed my own letterhead.

Look what the Chairman got me for Valentine's Day!

Ginger has her paw on two beautiful little red pillows stacked on top of each other. They are embellished with jewels and sequins.

Two, not one, TWO red satin pillows with all these sparklies on them. LOOOVE!

Up close of Ginger leaning on one of the beautiful red pillows.

A girl could get used to this. SIGH. SWOON.

We have been doing bunches of work and classes during the retreat but I am not allowed to tell you everything all at once. Dumb rule but I don't set them.  I'm supposed to build the suspense.

Ginger is leaning over a pattern piece. Scissors are laying nearby.

I don't imagine you are on the edge of your seats  from the above "suspenseful" photo of me. HOWEVER, you will notice there are scissors in the photo. Hmm. What do you suppose I will do with those. Huh? Wonder what...

OH! Happy President's Day!

Classic photo of Abe Lincoln with Ginger behind him doing a photobomb.

So how did I do my Babushkas?  More later...

Oh...this is from Wally. (Eye roll, eye roll, eye roll). Ok. He's cute. And he adores the Kreatrix.

Wally, the real life cat's face is embedded on Abe Lincoln's face.

More later my Babushkas!!!!!!

In Honor of Valentine's Day

The internet is full of pets who have heart patches in their fur. These are a few of my favorites that have been floating around the web for awhile now.

Up next is an animation from one of my favorite animators, Simon Tofield . His entire series, entitled Simon's Cat, is absolutely charming. Here is his latest one fresh off the assembly line for us this Valentine's Day.

And since love is often composed of an unlikely paring of two oddly matched individuals, I present to you one of the winners of the FRISKIES AWARD for best cat video of 2013.

To all of you who have supported us during these first months, please know that The Chairman and his entire community send their purrs and love to you today and always!

All the whimsical cat dolls are gathered for an official portrait in front of a giant hand painted mural.

We are heading into an important weekend! The entire gang has gathered for 5 days of meetings, classes, meals and work! But first we met for our official portrait.

Look at this background the Kreatrix painted for a show in New York City.

Colorful, huge hand painted canvas of whimsical houses surrounded by trees and grass and birdhouses.

This canvas mural is about 10 feet by 12 feet. HUGE!

Wally, Melvin and Rudy helped run the tech end of our photo shoot. Wally was the director of the shoot and constantly glared at Rudy and Melvin because they kept arguing.

Wally, a real life cat, lays on the canvas near the cat dolls.

Rudy and Melvin, real life cats, give each other the stink eye.

In the above photo you can see some of the tensions flaring with our tech crew.

Melvin, a real life cat, raises up on his hind legs to inspect one of the lights mounted for the photo shoot.

Melvin and Rudy did a great job hanging the lights.

Rudy inspects another light.

Meet our newest member! A brand new MAGNIFICAT!

A new Magnificat doll is introduced. It is gray and has an embroidered flower around its neck.

Our hand painted fabric rocks!

Closeup of a tweed heart patch on the chest of the Opie Doll Magnificat.

The heart patch on Opie the Magnificat's chest is made from a man's old suit. It had moth holes in it but the Kreatrix cut it apart and is making stuff with it!

Wally, the real life cat, inspects the dolls as they pose for their group photo.

As much as I get irritated with Wally. Kreatrix is making me tell the truth here. So let me rephrase that first sentence:  As much as I am jealous of the attention Wally gets from her and I shouldn't be because she loves us all...whatever. He did a good job directing our photo shoot.

Wish us luck! We get to take a workshop this weekend from the CEO on using something called Bondo. I signed up for the class hoping I'd learn how to be like James Bond. Ginger said Bondo is something that will help repair the World Dominationmobile. Either way, I win!

The CEO cat doll made from a mans suit coat.

And yes, Dude has a "thing" for the denim beauty sitting next to him. So far she's playing coy. Stay tuned.

The Things I Do For the Sake of My Cat Doll Community

Don't get upset but I helped the Kreatrix gut a stuffed bird to see how it was put together. I was mortified but she promised to sew it back together, which is what she's doing right now!

The Chairman helps pull stuffing out of an owl doll.

The Chairman wears white doll stuffing on his head and as a beard.

Kreatrix said I looked like George Washington. He must be one dapper dude!

Get a load of this new fangled foot we worked on this last weekend! My cat doll community is gonna rock!

The Kreatrix shows The Chairman a redesign on the feet for the new dolls.

The feet will bend up!

The Chairman shows how the foot bends at a right angle to the leg.

Rudy stared at us a whole lot and Kreatrix took way too many photos of the "pretty kitty". Hmmm. Whatever.

Long haired, beautiful ginger colored cat named Rudy sitting in a patch of sunshine watching the proceedings.

I Was Only Temporarily Embarrassed

While the Kreatrix is busy redesigning my community and working on marketing, she told me to come up with an artistic post for today.

I went through her bookmarks and found an amazing human who makes designs in the sand at the ocean. He calls himself an earthscape artist. His name is Andres Amador and his artwork is AWESOME!

A sand painting by Andres Amador.

Sand drawing by Andres Amador.

I was so inspired I thought I'd give it a whirl using this sandbox I found near the back door.

The Chairman is using a backscratcher to try and draw designs in the kittly pan filled with sand kitty litter.

Kreatrix found us and calmly asked us to wash up and just post this very cool video.

Please visit his website! Put on some peaceful music and watch the slide show on a full screen. He has set it up for you on his website.

She Likes Big Butts Especially on Cat Dolls

We had a board meeting and the Kreatrix announced a redesign on our butts. I was a bit offended at first but then I saw her point. Let's face it, a bigger booty allows for a more steady seated position. Ya know...so we don't fall over backward.

NOTE TO SELF: Do tiny-butt humans fall over backwards? Must Google it.

The Cat Dolls at their board room table viewing a sample doll from Pier One.

Kreatrix purchased some cute dolls from Pier One for us to see because they had nice butts. (You might think butts is our key word for the spiderbots today but that would just be icky)

The Chairman and Ginger seated at the Boardroom table.

The Chairman is participating in a cell phone call at the boardroom table.

I had my first conference call ever! I could get used to this!! We also reviewed a great book that had ideas for butt implants on dolls. Kreatrix thought the book was incredible! Stuffed Animals; From Concept to Construction by Abigail Glassenberg.

Kreatrix will experiment with some cool, soft vintage fabric she found.

The Chairman inspects the vintage fabric the new dolls will be made from.

We gathered for our after meeting photo and Dude finally showed up. Check out Ginger shooting him the stink eye.

Ginger leans back and stares at Dude who is perched on the edge of the table.

Turns out Dude was on a Top Secret Mission for the Kreatrix.

A BIG MISSION. Kreatrix put money in the curse jar so we could let loose if we needed to.

The Kreatrix puts money in the curse jar as she introduces more cats to the community.

AHHHHHHHH! There's more of us!!

The Chairman covers his mouth in shock. Ginger's mouth goes into an Oh. Dude says to check out the new Denim cutie. More cats are introduced!

The three new members sit on the table.

Yowza Meowza! Some of those cats look a lot like me! I can hardly wait to get to know them. We're going to need all the helping paws around here we can get!

Get offa our tiny butts and get to work!!!

Featuring Staff Sgt. Jesse Knott and Kashka, the cat

We've heard and seen so many happy stories about our servicemen and women being reunited with their beloved dogs when they return home from a tour of duty.

So often, people quickly dismiss cats as not being loyal. They're labeled as aloof. Most people who've loved a cat know that cats are loyal, too, and oftentimes feel their cats have saved their lives.

This particular story about Staff Sgt. Knott and his rescued Afghan cat, Kashka, captured our hearts at Catberry Tails. This is a cat who helped save a soldier's life while on duty in Afghanistan and he in turn was determined to save his cat's life.

Photo of Staff Sgt Jesse Knott with the cat he rescued.

During Knott’s darkest hour when several of his buddies were killed by a suicide bomber, the cat began mewing and head-butting him and pawed his forehead. Knott, himself, was contemplating suicide. But Kashka had other plans.

“He would just not leave me alone,” Knott says.

Then the cat jumped in the soldier’s lap and produced a low, vibrating sound that Knott had never heard from him before.

"You lose faith in a lot but sometimes it's the smallest things that bring you back," Knotts said.

Koshka’s purring pulled the soldier off his emotional ledge and back into reality. He realized he had a job to do, and that was to get that cat out of Afghanistan.

From then on, Knott's determination to keep Koshka safe was absolute.

"He pulled me out of one of my darkest times so I had to pull him out of one of his darkest places," Knott has said.

The journey back to the USA was filled with danger. It entailed a long ride through Afghanistan, through numerous Taliban check points, many plane flights and finally arriving safely into the waiting arms of the Staff Sgt. Knott's family back home in Oregon.

"He was my saving grace. He kept me alive during that tour."

Sgt. Knott and Kashka have received numerous awards for the love and compassion they've shown towards each other.

The ASPCA in New York City recently announced Kashka as Cat of the Year for 2013.

Dear hungry spiderbots,

Here are your words to chew on: vintage iMac, vintage iMac. BOOYAH!

(and if you're still uncertain regarding the ever present spiderbots, please click here)

Dude and I have been very busy!

The Chairman and Dude sit next to a vintage iMac surrounded by screwdrivers. They are gutting it.

I kept Googling how to gut an iMac and found some pretty cool videos but I have to point out:

You ADULT humans use way too many words! I found a little human dude around 11 years old who taught me how to pull this baby apart! KIDS ROCK!!

The Chairman watching a youtube video from a boy of about 11 who is a child genius!

Melvin kept whispering jokes about Wally in my ear.

Melvin, the real life cat, puts his nose up to The Chairman's ear while he's working on the vintage iMac.

BEHOLD! The Motherboard. Woah! Very, very cool. Talk about World Domination! This looks very important and I look like I know what I'm doing!!

The Chairman hovering over the motherboard from the vintage iMac.

While Dude and I worked on my cool vintage iMac, our poor Kreatrix was back to working on these...um..."waste bags." Right. Waste Bags my pahtooty.

You and I both know what goes in them. Remember this fiasco?

A pretty box filled with rolls of Doggie poop bags.

Anyway...she had to make the above prototype for a business pitch.

Dear Kreatrix:

A+  for effort

F   for subject matter

Sometimes a little guy just needs his space

Let me explain.

This is how my World Dominationmobile is stored in the back yard while we're working on it.

The Chairman's car is underneath a tarp.

So far, so good.

I'm not sure how to say this but here goes:

"Ginger is just really, really pretty and well, I kinda wanted time with her...ALONE. "

Now, you may know where I'm going with this. I told Dude where Gin-gin and I were headed. HOWEVER, the Kreatrix couldn't find me and started getting really panicked (or so Dude said). Dude escapes to the back yard to warn us and here is what the Kreatrix saw from inside the house.

Dude's backside hanging out of the car as it is still partially covered with the tarp.

Dude wants to know what to tell the Kreatrix because she's so worried and what if she calls the Police?

Ginger and the Chairman lean towards Dude as creeps under the tarp to warn them.

We were just about to come back inside when this happened:

The tarp is lifted way up over the car as Ginger and The Chairman stare up at the Kreatrix.

We inhaled and held our breath as we looked up at our beloved Kreatrix.

"Awwww. Were you guys necking?"

The Kreatrix hand can be seen motioning to Ginger and The Chairman.

You might think the story ends there...ya know, with us not getting in trouble. But Kreatrix starts singing all these songs by a man named Barry White and says she's got a little surprise she's going to prepare for me.

Uh-huh. Well...here it is.

So This Is Where You Humans Go When You Leave The House

I decided to take matters into my own paws and saddled up for a brave mission. No more waiting to get supplies for my car!

The Chairman rides his bicycle down the sidewalk.

I didn't get far before the Kreatrix came out, snatched me up and put me in a giant human car machine.

Catberry_ChairmanCar2

Somehow I don't think this is how the car machine works. She told me to help her steer so I did.

Five minutes later, she parked the car and picked me up saying:

"Are you ready for a grand adventure?"

WOAH!! This place was huge. It belongs to a lady named Joann Fabric.

The Chairman peddles his bicycle down an aisle of Joanns Fabric store.

I could hardly stand it! Awesomeness! Scariness! Lots of stuff to explore. Lots of people laughing...at me. Kreatrix said it was a good thing so I'm not going to worry about it.

I could see forever up there!

The Chairman is way up high on top of bolts of fabric. The Kreatrix motions for him to get back down on his bicycle.

The best part of retail therapy is I got the Kreatrix all to myself for an hour! AND look what we bought for my car.

The Chairman poses with high-end sheepskin fabric, a flubby animal print and a can of red glossy spray paint.

I just knew Ginger would like that fluffy piece of fabric.

Ginger and The Chairman wrap the fluffy animal skin print around their shoulders. The Chairman stares at her longingly.

OH, MEEEEOOOOW! Gin-gin!! Kreatrix helped me make something called a "beauty shot" of Ginger. I...I...woah.

A sweet and full-throttle beauty shot of Ginger the soft scuptured cat doll wraped in and animal skin fluffy fabric.

Hey. This red paint I picked out isn't working yet. Suggestions?

The Chairman poses with a can of Candy Apple Red spray paint on the hood of his car.
